Biography
- Born in East London (South Africa) and lived there until March 1970. His father, Andries Roux, was transferred to Windhoek (Namibia, old Southwest Africa) and the whole family moved to Windhoek in March 1970.
- He competed and passed his matric exams at the Windhoek High School in 1977 after which he joined the South African Army for a period of two years in 1978.
- He returned to Windhoek after his military service and in January 1980 started as an apprentice Telkom Electrician at the then called Post and Telecommunications Department (now called Telecom Namibia). He was trained into the work phase Automatic Mechanical Switching Exchanges.
- He completed his 3 year in-house apprentiship in January 1983 at the Technical Training Center of the Post and Telecommunications Department and studied further for another 3 years at the Windhoek Polytechnic College for the Technical Diploma in Electronic Engineering. In 1986 he obtained the diploma and registered at the Namibian Engineering Council as a Engineering Technician.
- He joined the Technical Training Center of the Post and Telecommunications Department as a Technical Instructor in 1983 where he trained other apprentices. His core subjects were Electricity, Electronics, Automatic Mechanical and Electronic Switching Exchanges, Logic systems, Computer studies and Programming.
- In 1994 he became the Manager of the Technical Training Center of Telecom Namibia and held this position until 1999.
- In October 1999 he joined a project team to setup an Internet Service Provider (ISP) Company for Telecom Namibia. In November 2000 the newly ISP Company, called iWAY, was launched and he was appointed as the ISP Operations Manager. His core duties are to make sure that the ISP is fully technical operational and maintained in order to provide Internet Services. He is currently still holding that position.
